The model
Course, then the name.
This is not a copied football board and not a strokes-gained reprint. Wind, firmness, and length come before the name. A withdrawal changes the field. It is not a fade of the man who still tees off. A short price can be the right golfer and the wrong number. The Baycurrent Classic is through 54 holes. Michael Brennan is the lean to win at 54. He shot 65 and tied the lead. Jacob Bridgeman held a share. Nobody withdrew, so nothing is 56.
1 · The course
The course writes it.
Wind, firmness, and length come before the name. A resort week is not a major. The same golfer is a different bet on a different track.
2 · The field
Who is actually in it.
A withdrawal is not a fade of the man who tees off. The field is the one on the first tee, not the one in the preview.
3 · The form
The last few starts.
Recent finishes, not the career major count. A long winless stretch is a condition. It is not a law that he cannot play this week.
4 · The number
The right golfer can be the wrong number.
A short-price favorite can be the best player in the field and still a pass. We do not write a winner off a name.
5 · The gate
A change in the tournament is the only side.
56 or better only when a withdrawal or a forecast change alters the week. Under 56 is still a pick. It is a lean. This week Brennan is 54 to win after a 65. That is not a pass.
